A FEW SAD TRUTHS
More than half of white Americans vote compared to a third of Hispanic Americans.
60% of Americans 65+ vote in Congressional races, compared to 23% of Americans 18-34 years old.
A little more than half of eligible Americans 18 and older are not registered to vote.
The United States’ voter turnout is one of the lowest among most developed countries.
Our movement was sparked by an inspirational story of national triumph in the face of plaguing terrorism, corruption, and war in the 2014 Afghan election. This is a little-known story of democracy winning whose spirit we want our electoral system to embody.

Things are worse when it comes to Congressional & local races 🏛️
Most local and Congressional races happen in winner-take-all elections. These races seldom see turnout from ordinary constituents but instead from single-issue voters (environmental, religious, guns, etc.) and voters who tend to hold stronger political beliefs. This is not representative, and oftentimes encourages a nasty system of candidates trying to “out-Republican” or “out-Democrat” each other.
▶️ The best mayoral races show turnouts in the 30%’s, while races such as Fort Worth, TX’s have a turnout as low as 6%.
▶️ Similarly, most Congressional races see a 30% turnout while Presidential races see about 55% .
▶️ Off-year elections, for Senate and local races (even Judges & Sheriff) see drastically smaller turnouts.
America is doing better, however! Valuable work by similar organizations saw a successful Congressional race in 2018 and 2020. In 2020, most states had broken 40-year records for voter turnouts.
